The owner, Alain Château

Alain Château purchased the estate in 2005. As a trained engineer with an industrial background, he didn’t always seem destined for life as a winemaker… but his passion for wine and its landscapes decided otherwise. After learning the ropes at several estates in the Anjou region, the opportunity arose to pursue a new winemaking adventure in Saint-Émilion, at Château Yon-Figeac.

Drawing on his industry experience, he adopted a rigorous approach to managing this new estate, pushing all involved to strive constantly to achieve bigger and better things. He also immediately sought out the expert advice of Denis Dubourdieu, Professor at the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology.

The winemaking profession is a fast-moving world, and since 2005 Alain Château has surrounded himself with a team of top professionals, including consulting oenologist Christophe Ollivier and vineyard manager Paulin Escouboué.
